[.en] Design interventions for the reuse of existing structures face the question of the presence of the past. In which way should the old be present in the new? This is the point of departure of Int | AR, the yearly publication on international current issues in adaptive reuse. Narrative environments are a compositional strategy to re-present the times in a life of a building. Narratives associate the many different times and spaces inherent in a particular space at a specific time. The reuse of materials, transformative interventions, continuation of cultural phenomena through built infrastructure result in densely woven narratives of the built environment with adaptive reuse as their tool.
