The work of Herman Hertzberger is the subject of wide international esteem. 1991 first saw publication of Hertzberger’s Lessons for Students in Architecture, an elaborated version of lectures he had given since 1973 at Delft University of Technology. En el documental ‘Aprendizajes del arquitecto’ Enric Miralles cuenta, de viva voz, los fundamentos conceptuales de algunas de sus obras: “Este viaje a través del aprendizaje es entender el ejercicio de tu profesión como la mejor manera de aprenderla […]”. El documental ‘Miralles Tagliabue EMBT: estado de las obras, Julio 2002’ muestra la situación en que se encontraban once proyectos en ese momento y nos introduce en la geometría vegetal de Enric Miralles, que revela el espíritu de las obras de Miralles Tagliabue de aquellos años.

Arquitecto. Enric Miralles (1955-2000). Fue un arquitecto brillante. Tras su desaparición, en julio de 2000, quedaron en curso obras de gran envergadura, como el Mercado de Santa Caterina en Barcelona o el Parlamento de Edimburgo, firmados con la arquitecta Benedetta Tagliabue, al cargo de su finalización en los últimos años. Un legado de obras y proyectos de una imaginación desbordante y erudita: “Yo creo que el esfuerzo de comunicar es muy importante, por ello es necesario hacer entender el trabajo que uno hace, porque [..] de lo contrario, habrá mucha razón en creer que la cultura se reduce a una especie de técnicos que ofrecen unos servicios”.

Amplió sus estudios en Nueva York, y al finalizar su tesis doctoral en 1989 se trasladó a Barcelona, y el año 1991 empieza a colaborar con Enric Miralles, con quien se asocia más tarde para formar el estudio Miralles Tagliabue EMBT. Su colaboración situó su estudio de arquitectura entre los de mayor prestigio y proyección internacional, con obras como: el Parque Diagonal Mar (1997-2002), el edificio de Gas Natural (1999-2006), el Mercado de Santa Caterina (1996-2005), así como los proyectos europeos de la Escuela de Música de Hamburgo (1997-2000) o la rehabilitación del Ayuntamiento de Utrech (1996-2000). En 1998, el estudio gana el concurso internacional para la construcción del Parlamento de Escocia en Edimburgo (1998-2004).

Más recientemente ha ido ganando diversos concursos como el nuevo puerto Hafencity en Hamburgo, una estación de metro en Nápoles o el Pabellón español para la Expo de Shangai 2010.
En el año 2005 fue galardonada en la Bienal de Arquitectura Española, Premio Manuel de la Dehesa, por su proyecto del Parlamento de Escocia 2004 y el mismo año gana el prestigioso RIBA Stirling Prize, Mejor Edificio del 2005 por el Parlamento de Escocia, y con el Premio Nacional de Patrimonio Cultural concedido por la Generalidad de Cataluña por el mercado de Santa Catalina en 2001. El año 2009 ha recibido el Premio Ciudad de Barcelona en la categoría de proyección Internacional por el Pabellón de España de la Exposición Universal Shanghai 2010. En 2009 se le concedió el premio Fellowship RIBA de arquitectura, otorgado por el Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
Benedetta ha escrito para diferentes publicaciones de arquitectura y ha impartido docencia y conferencias por diversidad de universidades como la ETSAB de Barcelona, el RIBA, la Architectural Association y la Bartlett School de Londres, el Berlage Institut de Amsterdam, así como en Estados Unidos, China y Sudamérica.

Esta publicación es el resultado del trabajo realizado por un grupo de investigadores de la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid cuyo fin ha sido el inventariar todas aquellas infraestructuras hidráulicas que se han ido construyendo a lo largo de los siglos en la cuenca del río Ebro, y cuyas fuentes documentales se encuentran en la actualidad en los archivos de la Administración. En el soporte digital se puede, por un lado, acceder a los datos que sean de interés para el lector y, por otro, a modo de muestra, se puede visualizan una selección de la documentación gráfica inventariada.
