At Theatrum Mundi, a centre for research and experimentation in the public culture of cities based in London and Paris, we explore how the arts could offer different ways for city-makers – architects, engineers and urban planners – to examine the practices of designing and redesigning cities and their elements: streets, public spaces, transport links or buildings. 'Concrete & Ink: Storytelling and the Future of Architecture', is the first book in the series Staging Cities that across four volumes proposes a shared space, bringing together constellations of knowledge and approaches from across storytelling, choreography, sound and lighting design, and city-making to search for points of crossover, overlaps and perhaps common ground and understanding in creating, designing and living city-ness.
👤 Marta Michalowska is a curator, producer, artist and writer based in London. She has recently completed her debut novel 'Sketching in Ashes', supported by Arts Council England through the Developing Your Creative Practice programme, and is currently writing her second one 'A Tram to the Beach', both exploring contested territories. Michalowska is Associate Director of Theatrum Mundi and Director of The Wapping Project.
👤 Justinien Tribillon is an urbanist, writer, editor and curator, who works across different media and disciplines including social science, photography, architecture, and history. He is a tutor and PhD candidate at The Bartlett School of Planning, UCL, as well as a co-founder and editor of Migrant Journal. Between 2017 and 2020, Justinien was Researcher then Associate Director for Europe at Theatrum Mundi. He has written for The Guardian, MONU, The Architectural Review, Magnum.
