[.eus] Fotokazetaritzari buruzko eskuliburu honek argazkigintzaren alde praktikoa eta unibertsitate-mailako teoria biltzen ditu. Argazkigintzan interesa dutenek argazkiak ateratzeko teknika eta konposizio-arauak aurkituko dituzte, baita irudi-artxiboak antolatu eta tratatzeko azalpenak ere, adibideekin. Era berean, argazkiak argitaratzeko hainbat baliabide zehazten da. Fotokazetaritza ikasi gura dutenek haren historia eta fotokazetarien lanak ezagutu ahal izango dituzte, ikuspegi europarrari jarraikiz, euskarazko fotokazetaritzaren garapena azalduz. Azkenik, fotokazetaritzaren teorian sakontzeko, hausnarketa teorikoen inguruko azken eztabaidak jasotzen dira, hala nola «fotoegia» eta manipulazioa, edo objektibotasuna eta egiantzekotasuna, fotokazetariek ez ezik, kazetariek ere fotokazetaritzaren oinarriak mendera ditzaten, albisteak haien osotasunean lantzerakoan, ikus-informazioak ere bere eginkizuna egoki bete dezan ziurtatzeko.

[.es] Obtenidas entre los últimos compases del siglo XIX y los inicios del siglo XX junto al fotógrafo Lorenzo Elorza, estas imágenes, muchas de ellas inéditas hasta la fecha, suponen una fuente inagotable de información sobre la evolución de los templos alaveses, algunos de ellos hoy en día desaparecidos. Este recorrido por la Álava de Baraibar y Elorza nos permite conocer las tradiciones, personajes y modos de vida que quedaron fijados a modo de testimonio gracias a estos pioneros de la fotografía en Álava.

En 1912 el polifacético intelectual Federico Baraibar depositó orgulloso en la Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando un álbum de 167 fotografías titulado Inventario del románico en Álava. Desde entonces, esta valiosa colección ha pasado desapercibida entre sus fondos. El presente libro pretende rescatar del olvido este trabajo fotográfico pionero en la puesta en valor y en el conocimiento científico del patrimonio medieval alavés.

[.en] Josef Albers is widely recognized as a crucial figure in 20th-century art, both as an independent practitioner and as a teacher at the Bauhaus, Black Mountain College and Yale University. Albers made paintings, drawings and prints and designed furniture and typography. Arguably the least familiar aspect of his extraordinary career was his inventive engagement with photography, only widely known after his death, including his production of approximately 70 photocollages that feature photographs he made at the Bauhaus between 1928 and 1932. These works anticipate concerns that he would pursue throughout his career--the effects of adjacency, the exploration of color through white, black and gray, and the delicate balance between handcraft and industrial and mechanical form. Albers's photographs were first shown at MoMA in a modest exhibition in 1987, when the Museum acquired two photocollages. In 2015 the Museum acquired ten additional photocollages, making its collection the most substantial anywhere outside the Albers Foundation. This publication reproduces each of the photocollages Albers made at the Bauhaus, presenting the scope of this achievement for the first time. An introductory essay by Sarah Hermanson Meister situates them within the contexts of modernist photography, the Bauhaus ethos and of Albers's own practice.

Leipzig-born photographer Margret Hoppe is a promising new voice in European photographic art. This new book features her series ‘Après une Architecture’, a photographic perspective of Le Corbusier’s architecture that refers to his concept of a modern architecture laid-out in the book ‘Vers une architecture’ (Toward an Architecture) of 1923.

Hoppe’s images show Le Corbusier’s use of exposed concrete, the clarity of his geometric shapes and the emblematic polychrome surfaces as symbols of his buildings. She investigates what remains today of these visions of architectural modernism, now that its legacy in many cases is adored as a monument rather than actually used and appreciated as a functional piece of architecture. The photographic image transforms the buildings into signs of a highly pictorial and sculptural aesthetic, enabling manifold views at Le Corbusier’s work in the present day.

The book also presents a selection of Hoppe’s photographs of international modernist buildings, alongside two essays and a conversation with the artist. It is published to coincide with a solo exhibition at the Museum der bildenden Künste in Leipzig.
