Educated at the University of Tokyo and Yale University, Japanese architect Norihiko Dan has run his own practice since 1994. The recipient of several prizes, including the 2014 Best Architecture for Taiwan, for Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Terminal 1, he views architecture as a kind of cultural fruit crossbred between the architect and his or her various local surroundings, such as geography, culture, economy, or social values, and thus potentially weaving a diversified locus that can appear unique and unpredictable. Richly illustrated, the book features seventeen works and projects, with essays by Gene Kwang-Yu King and Aaron Betsky, and with a preface by the architect.
