Thom Mayne, Morphosis. Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, U.S.A., in 1944. Graduated from Southern California Institute of Architecture (Bachelor of Arch.) in 1968. Received Master of Arch. From Harvard University en 1978. Established private practice in Los Angeles in 1971 and founded Morphosis, Los Angeles in 1972.
In 1972, he helped to found the Southern California Institute of Architecture. Since then, he has held teaching positions at Columbia, Yale (Eliel Saarinen Chair in 1991), Harvard University, GSD/Graduate School of Design (Eliot Noyes Chair in 1998), Berlage Institute in the Netherlands, and many other institutions around the world. Currently, he holds a tenured faculty position at UCLA School of Arts and Architecture.
With Morphosis,he has been the recipient of the 2005 Pritzker Architecture Prize. Currently, he is the leader of Morphosis Architects and holds a tenured faculty position at the UCLA School of Arts and Architecture.
