The increasingly rare craft of architectural detail is essential to a superlative residential plan, as is demonstrated in this inspiring volume. Presenting a large selection of plans and images of architectural details in b&w plates of excellent quality, the images were originally published in an architectural magazine. Details are included for 34 parts of a house or residence, including interior railings, screen doors, corner cupboards, bookshelves, cupolas, chimneys, door hoods, and fireplaces. Each selection of images compares examples of different styles. All commentary is contained within the plans, which note materials as well as dimensions. A selection of contemporary examples have been added for some, including entrance doorways and pergolas, with date and architect's name noted for both the historic and current examples. Architectural details indispensable to everyone in the drafting room today.
